Accessibility Statement

Spectrum Joy is committed to making the web a more accessible place for everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement explains the steps we take to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA — the international standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (EAA, effective 28 June 2025), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Section 508 in the United States.

Conformance status: spectrum-joy.com aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We perform regular self-audits and address issues as they are identified. If you find an accessibility barrier, please tell us and we will fix it as quickly as possible.

What we do at the structural level: semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer); a 'Skip to content' link as the first focusable element on every page; a single H1 per page with a logical heading order; descriptive link text and image alt text; visible focus outlines on all interactive elements; meaningful page titles; high color-contrast ratios for body text; the language attribute set per page (en, es); responsive layouts that work down to 320px width and at 200% zoom.

User-controlled accessibility tools: every page includes an accessibility widget (the floating circle on the bottom-left). It lets you adjust text size up to 150%, switch to high-contrast or dark mode, enable a dyslexia-friendly font (Atkinson Hyperlegible), underline links, pause animations, increase line and letter spacing, enlarge the cursor, and turn on a reading guide. Your choices are remembered locally in your browser. We also automatically respect the prefers-reduced-motion system setting.

Keyboard navigation: every interactive element is reachable with the Tab key and operable with Enter / Space. The cookie banner and the accessibility widget can be opened, navigated, and closed entirely with the keyboard.

Assistive technology: we test with VoiceOver (macOS / iOS) and NVDA (Windows). Forms have associated labels, buttons have aria-labels where the visible text is not descriptive, and decorative icons are marked aria-hidden.

Known limitations: some product images are sourced from AliExpress and may have generic alt text auto-generated from product titles — we work to improve these on a rolling basis. Embedded third-party widgets we may add in the future are reviewed for accessibility before they go live.
